Echoes of Sanilac: Exploring the History of Michigan's Thumb

Our Old Fashioned Christmas took place at the Train Depot Museum on December 7, 2024. Even though the weather prevented us from erecting the tent, which kept our band from playing, the event was a success.

Upcoming Events

"Lightfoot – The Stories, The Songs,”. Was Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 6:30 PM, at the Marlette High School Cafeteria. We had excellent attendance and the concert was well received.

On Friday, June 13, the Historical Society hosted a program by Wendy Zielen entitled "Rosie the Riveter: Willow Run". She presented an interesting program about the Willow River Aircraft factory and the women that worked there during WW II.

On July 19,2025, the Marlette Historical Society held its third annual Car Show, with food, beverages, music, 50/50 drawing, and raffle. The Historical Society also held a Christmas in July sales event. All proceeds went toward maintaining and improving the Marlette Train Depot Museum.

"Echoes of Sanilac: Exploring the History of Michigan's Thumb" is a traveling exhibit that is made possible through a grant to the Sanilac Historical Society as part of the America 250 celebration. Made up of numerous interactive panels, it explores the history of the Thumb. It will be on display at the Marlette Train Depot Museum on July 17, 18, and 19, 2026.
